On LSM's 'Career Conversation' Lecture Series:
LSM attracts a wide variety of interesting speakers both in academia and industry, on topics ranging from medical devices and translational research to biodiversity development in Costa Rica. The Career Conversations offer insight into how to balance bioscience with business in the real world and are a great way to discuss future possibilities in your desired field.
What Makes the LSM Community Unique:
Since LSM is a small community, we've grown as a tight-knit unit with a sense of camaraderie. There's always a home in the LSM lounge where you can take your lunch and talk with upperclassmen, listen to internship advice, or just relax amongst people who are a part of the same program yet have a variety of goals. Talking with LSM upperclassmen provides a direct and insightful guide to navigating the wide range of opportunities at Penn.
What is Your Favorite Experience at Penn so far?
If you want to start college off right, PennQuest is really the best option. A pre-orientation hiking program, PennQuest is a phenomenal way to meet new people and form lasting friendships. The leaders are the most wild, energetic, and enthusiastic people I've met and once on the Appalachian Trail, you'll find yourself opening up to fellow PennQuesters and bonding over songs, stories, and the great outdoors. Upon emerging from the wilderness, you'll step foot on Penn's campus with a core of close friends, a devoted set of upperclassmen leaders, and some phenomenal memories.
I'm on the PennVention committee at the Weiss Tech House, which runs Penn's annual student innovation competition. We've attracted speakers offering their insights on tech entrepreneurship, arranged mentorship for student inventors, and launched Penn's first ever Elevator Pitch Competition. Also, I write for Penn Appetit, the campus food magazine, and last semester I joined the UPAAN Philly Dragon Boat team, which was an incredible time. I'm also involved with Penn Undergraduate Biotech Society, Wharton Undergraduate Healthcare Club, and Wharton Private Equity/Venture Capital Club.
