Throughout the school year, LSM Career Conversations (known less formally as “pizza talks”) expose students to a variety of career paths and perspectives in the life sciences industry – and give them the opportunity to hear stories and gain new insights from a diverse and fascinating group of speakers. For these talks, we invite people who work, in a wide variety of ways at the intersection of life sciences and management to come talk with the students about how they ended up doing what they are doing now, what they do now, what led them to the career they now have, and how they arrived at the decisions they made along the way.
Many of our guest speakers, in following their interests and taking advantage of unexpected opportunities (or sometimes by simply making the best of what at first did not seem like an ideal situation), have found themselves in a role they hadn’t ever thought they’d be in (and on occasion one they did not even know existed). In other words, students can come to appreciate that they don’t need to have their life planned out just yet. The Career Conversations provide students with the means to learn more about careers they might already have an interest in or that they might not otherwise have considered through relaxed, open, and stimulating conversations with interesting and accomplished people.
