What are three words you would use to describe LSM?
Community- As an LSM student, I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a supportive community. I met some of my first friends at Penn through LSM and have really been able to strengthen those friendships through late-night studying in the LSM lounge, working together on projects, and social events. The people in the program really make the academic journey more enjoyable and manageable.
Innovative- I think the LSM program is really one of a kind and sets up its students to be extremely thoughtful and innovative in any life sciences or business field. As a student, you have access to some of the most cutting-edge research opportunities in the world and some of the most creative minds in biotech. This innovative approach gives you all the opportunities you need to think creatively and make an impact.
Supportive- One of the things that sets the LSM program apart from the rest of the Penn is the access to great advising and unique opportunities. I’ve felt that the program advisors and staff have been really committed to guiding me towards my academic and professional goals. They organize regular LSM-exclusive career talks with industry leaders and also connect us with internships and job opportunities. The LSM alumni network is another great resource. I’ve felt that this level of support cannot be found anywhere else at Penn and has really guided me through my college experience.
Why did you choose LSM?
I chose the LSM program because it offers a unique opportunity that no other college program can match. The ability to explore both the life sciences and business in a single, integrated curriculum is unique to LSM. At Penn, I'm able to take advantage of the university's top-ranked business and biology programs. This dual focus allows me to understand the science behind innovations while also understanding how these innovations will perform in the market. The interdisciplinary nature of LSM prepares me for a career at the intersection of science and business, equipping me with the skills and knowledge to make a significant impact in industries such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare investments. The combination of Penn's extensive resources, world-class faculty, and the supportive LSM community made it the perfect choice for me.
What is the favorite thing you’ve done at Penn so far?
My favorite moments at Penn are ones that I didn’t plan for. Some of my favorite memories include going ice skating with friends, trying out local happy hours, and exploring all that Philadelphia has to offer. Whether it's discovering a new coffee shop, trying iconic cheesesteaks, or going sightseeing, there's always something exciting to do.
What main extracurricular activities do you do at Penn?
I play on the Club Squash Team at Penn where we finished 3rd nationally in our most recent season. I also worked for a Medical Device Startup through the Venture Lab Practicum Fellowship where I was working on stakeholder outreach and market research.
I’m also involved with a few professional clubs such as the Wharton Investment and Trading Group, the Wharton Undergraduate Healthcare Club, and Wharton Asia Exchange. I’m also a rush chair for PGN, a professional business fraternity.
